Social Marketing by Michelle MacPhearson: Steal This Niche - Intro

  • Jeff Madison · 7 months ago
    Hey Michelle,

Thanks for the tips. I really appreciated the way you showed how quick and easy keyword research can be done with Market Samurai.

Now I have to go to work with Market Samurai and find some other niches ripe for the "stealing".

    Thanks again,

    Jeff

Great series Michelle! I look forward to the next video! Oh, I know what you mean about having an office out of the house... I'm looking into that myself at the moment. :)
  • Elizabeth Ashe · 7 months ago
Great work!!! You know your stuff, can't wait until the next one.
  • Tina Williams · 7 months ago
What a great series Michelle! Awesome how straight forward you are and how willingly you give out great content. Market Samurai is an amazing product that I have had since Ed Dale and 30DC 2008. The example you gave demonstrating how to use Market Samurai effectively is worth it's weight in gold. If all of this series is as content filled as this simple 13 minute video intro then you really have out done yourself!

Thank you for being such a perfect example of the KLT Factor at work!

OK -- I think you are cool.

So, I just registered a chickencoup related domain. God, I am such a geek. I wanted to sell Elvis Bobble Heads, but Lynn has that market cornered. Anyway, it's Friday night and the baby is asleep and my wife is gone for an hour or two. I will pick 4 or 5 keywords, put up a site tonight, submit some articles and let you know how it goes.

Now all I need is some chicken coup PLR (a new market for Nichole Dean?) LOL

    God -- chicken coups. Sheesh.

You're the one who turned me on to Market Samurai in Crowd Mtn and I've been having fun ever since! One question, another training I saw on it suggested we put on phrase match rather than broad. I notice you always use broad. What do you think? Does phrase just give a more realistic (lower) idea of traffic, or do you think broad does?
  • Matt Longley · 7 months ago
Thanks for the great info! Looking forward to the rest of the series. Keep up the great work.

Great video & content! My first time hearing of MarketSamurai. BTW, I'm looking for office space too. Thanks!

    Wow! Great video...

Market Samurai is amazing so far and the explanation vid is much appreciated..... well done!
  • Jason · 7 months ago
Thanks a lot for this video. I have heard about Market Samurai in the past but didn't know that it was so powerful and saves so much time. I will likely buy through your link because of this great video. Thank you.

I had to comment again and say that I am INCREDIBLY impressed with the Market Samurai software.... this is the single best keyword research tool that I have ever seen hands down.

If you are reading this and you are in the IM game, download that software!

Mark Mason-- You are just a working searching guy. I see your trail all around. Michelle this is a great video on niche finding.
    Thanks
    Rick
  • Wendy Merritt · 7 months ago
Great video. Thanks for the short tutorial. You did a few things with Market Samurai that I haven't tried yet.

I agree with the separate office. My hubby and I both work from home and share a huge office space in our house. Don't go there! In August I send my last kid off to college and look forward to converting one of their rooms into my own personal office...with a lock on the door. LOL

    Blessings,
    Wendy

@Rick -- I beg your pardon. I am a "a working searching guy" with a wordpress blog about Chicken Coops up and running, sir. Three posts and counting. LOL.
  • Wendy Merritt · 7 months ago
I should have included this in the last post...sorry. I noticed that you have embedded a Viddler video. I think it was you on an IMTW podcast that said you didn't like it when marketers didn't self-host videos. You said it was tacky. Did you have a change of heart? If so, why?

    Blessings,
    Wendy
  • Michelle MacPhearson · 7 months ago
@Wendy - I was talking about on salespages, simply because people can click off the video and end up on the video site rather then proceeding though one's salespage, and because yes, it can look unprofessional. If one were selling a YouTube or even social media product, it might be appropriate.
  • Mark Vozzo · 7 months ago
Great Video Michelle. I look forward to see your new office taking shape.

Question regarding Market Samurai, can I configure it for local search results? I'm based in Australia, can I configure it to run the analysis on Google.com.au for things such as "inTitle" queries, and the Search Volume etc....

    Thanks,
    Mark
  • Michelle MacPhearson · 7 months ago
@Mark - Yes, you can configure it for your local #'s.
  • Wendy Little-Yohe · 7 months ago
    Hi Michelle!

One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video is average CPC for the keywords you chose. Turns out all the keywords in this niche have extremely low CPC -

How to build a chicken coop = 0.25
    Chicken house plans = 0.37

...and these keywords are the highest CPC - most are at 0.05.

My question is - would it be profitable to enter this niche given the relatively low search volumes?

Thanks for this video series - very well done!
  • Wendy Little-Yohe · 7 months ago
You know what, Michelle - I just answered my own question. You're promoting a CB product, NOT creating an Adsense site! Go it! :)

I must say after viewing your video things look a lot easier to do then i once thought. I am very excited about continuing my crowd mountain membership. Honestly, I would be happy just discovering 5 or 6 niches like this and setting them up. Luckily I live by myself so I don't have a family to worry about at the moment. So if i could get 4 of these started and earning money every other day. I would be set. Then I could have more free time to go after bigger markets.

This Market Samurai software is great and I look forward to using it at it's full potential!
  • turnkeywebsite · 7 months ago
I like the software but just simply going into clickbank doesn't seen to be enough research to judge if it will be a profitable niche.
  • Mark Mason · 7 months ago
    @turnkey --

I don't want to speak for Michelle -- but look at it this way. The product pays $20 per sale and has a decent gravity, so it is not a total dud. Let's use some very conservative numbers and check it out...

Say the sales page converts at 2% and you have a CTR on your affiliate site of 10%. That means that you will make 2 sales for every thousand visitors get.

Now lets say you target 3 or 4 keywords for your site with a total search volume combined of 10,000/month. If you get to #1 for each KW, maybe you can get 30% CRT (research says 40%). Michelle already showed this was possible.

That's 3000 visitors per/month converting for 6 sales per month. Not bad, but just a start.

Once you have that going, you are way past break-even if you paid $10 for a domain and $100 for some content.

Then you can offer some free chicken coup ecourse and add a opt-in to get conversions up because you will mention the eBook in every mailer.

And, if you add analytics, you can see which SERP KWs are converting and start PPC for those.

And, did you know that there are chicken coops for sale on eBay for $800? I personally had no idea -- but it is true. So you can sell those too through EPN against a more keywords getting more traffic.

So, sure. You cannot retire on a 3 page site about chicken coops. But my site is already up and testing in the time that it took us to debate this.

If it fails, I'll sell it on sitepoint and get most (or all) of my money back.

Best of all, it's a hell of a lot of fun, and Michelle is cool.

    Just a thought.

    Excellent video, as usual!

Congrats on the new office. I work from home and JUST (as in not ten minutes ago) finished setting up my office at home with new desk and bookshelf furniture. For now, I'm happy to just park the kids in front of the Wii and let them burn off energy playing Wii Tennis while they stay out of my hair ; )

Completely off topic, but I like the new look to the site. Within the last week I also purchased the 'Thesis' theme. I love the clean look of it. The only thing I wish it did was make it easy to change colors (perhaps that will be coming in an update).

Market Samurai is the best! Michelle great how to vid for finding niches - these same principals apply to regular SEO too!
  • Dean Power · 7 months ago
Don't tell @Ed_Dale but I think this is the best explanation of Market Samurai I've seen. Thanks Michelle, great video.
  • Tunes For Kids · 7 months ago
I wouldn't have thought I'd find chicken coops so interesting, but boy do I have egg on my face. It was a cool way to see how you find a niche for niche marketing.

I'm not going to poach this niche, but I love the techniques and tools.

    Thanks Michelle,
    Tony

    Hi Michelle

I loved this video. You've persuaded me to join Crowd Mountain. See you on the other side!
  • Groobers · 7 months ago
Great video I will be watching this over and over when I am using Market Samuari thanks for sharing it. I may just have to Steal That Niche as I was only talking with my sister-in-law the other day about her wanting to keep chickens and she was telling me about the Eglu for keeping them in :)
  • Michael Belba · 7 months ago
Gee, thanks Michelle, now my girlfriend who is 5' 2" seems to think she wants to be 5' 5".... great video, but grow 3 inches, c'mon - I told my girlfriend I would be happy to hang her from a tree with cement blocks on her feet but she didn't want to be 5' 5" that badly...:) Nonetheless - great video as always, I love The Noble Samurai - next time, since my girlfriend likes to watch you stuff - do me a favor, pick a hot steamy book...lol

Great video for product selection, niche research and seo. And the best "how to" on market samurai I've seen.

Well worth watching a few more times

    Thank you Michelle, fantastic video.

Classic to see the Market Samurai results now only 11 days after you posted this video. The chicken coop niche will never be the same again. :)

@Aaron - ROFL, hysterical - but probably great for that CB merchant!
  • The Dude · 7 months ago
    Grrreeeaaattt!

I'm already in this niche. I wondered where all the Hubpages etc. suddenly came from, thanks Michelle! ;)

Should say though, the ebook isn't the best converting product in the world.

Michelle, I'll let you off because you're good looking.

    The Dude out.

    Hi Michelle,

I was watching your 'Steal this Niche' series and you actually inspired me to purchase Market Samurai.
You got me all revved up with your blog.
I visit back here every day & am missing you....haven't seen a post for a while. Maybe you're on Twitter....that's new to me at the moment (unchartered territotory) but i'm going to dare it & see what the Twitter phenomena is all about.
    Hope everything's okay, David (U.K.)
  • Mark Mason · 5 months ago
@The Dude -- Agree that book is not converting very well at the moment.
